California’s Middle Class Tax Refund
In California, the Middle Class Tax Refund (MCTR) is a one-time payment to provide relief to Californians. The majority of MCTR payments have been issued, benefiting almost 32,000,000 California taxpayers and their dependents. Payments are expected to be issued between October 2022 and January 2023. For any queries or to activate the card, taxpayers can visit the Contact information page.
Some taxpayers will receive their payment on a debit card. The Franchise Tax Board has partnered with Money Network to provide payments distributed by debit card. If taxpayers have not received their debit card and believe they are eligible, they are advised to make sure their address is up to date with the Franchise Tax Board.
