This comes after a US airstrike on Iran-backed militias on Thursday, which killed a total of 16 people, according to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The airstrike was carried out in retaliation for a drone strike on a Coalition base near northeast Syria's Hasaka city on Thursday, which killed a US contractor and injured six others. The drone was of Iranian origin, according to the Pentagon.

The identity of four of the 16 people killed in the US airstrike is unknown, while the rest include nine pro-Iran fighters and three Syrian soldiers. Tensions between American forces and Iranian-backed militias in eastern Syria have been on the rise, and the situation is likely to remain volatile in the coming days.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has stated that the rocket attack on Friday caused no damage to US equipment or facilities, and no injuries to US or coalition personnel. However, the attack on civilians highlights the dangerous situation in the region, and it is essential that all parties involved exercise restraint and work towards a peaceful resolution of the issue.
