The Czech Republic’s Contribution to Ukraine’s Defense
The Czech Republic, under the guidance of Deputy Defence Minister Daniel Blažek, has pledged to provide Ukraine with modern and updated military equipment. This includes a wide array of military items such as tanks, howitzers, infantry weapons, infantry fighting vehicles, anti-aircraft defense systems, radio electronic combat equipment, and ammunition. The move is seen as a boon for Czech companies, particularly in the defense sector.
Supplying Modern and Updated Equipment
The military supplies are expected to be sourced from the Czech Republic’s defense industry companies. Both modern Czech weapons and updated equipment currently in use by local armed forces are slated to be delivered to Kyiv. The equipment will be operational and is expected to be delivered in the coming months and in 2024.
Establishing Long-term Cooperation
The Czech Republic and Ukraine have signed a letter of intent to establish long-term cooperation and support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The first subproject in this collaboration involves the transfer of 15 updated main battle tanks T-72EA, which will be sent to Ukraine in the near future.
