The UK Ministry of Defence has reported that Russian and Wagner Group forces have made advancements in the city of Bakhmut, located in eastern Ukraine.
The Russian and Wagner Group forces have gained control over areas to the west of the Bakhmutka River, which had previously been the front line for the past week. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are still defending the western part of the town.
The Ministry also stated that Russia’s current local offensive actions are at some of the lowest levels observed since January 2023. The deployed formations’ combat power has been temporarily depleted to the point where local offensive actions are not sustainable.
However, it is expected that Russian leaders will try to restore the force’s offensive potential once their personnel and munition stocks have been replenished.
