The Southern Zone Referral Hospital in Mtwara Region has opened its doors, providing Comorians with access to specialized treatment. According to the ambassador, all necessary steps have been taken, and all that remains is for the parties to sign the MoU. Tanzania projects to be medical tourism.
A trip by plane from Comoro to this medical facility takes approximately 25 minutes. President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania has pledged to build additional zonal hospitals to give citizens more accessible access to specialized medical care. The hospital, which cost 15.8 billion shillings to build, serves residents in Mtwara, Ruvuma, and Lindi and those from the surrounding areas.
The Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI) and Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute (MOI) treat patients from Kenya, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Malawi, Comoro, and Mozambique thanks to the medical tourism plan.
