Three-Month Training Program in China: The second cohort of technical and vocational education training (TVET) teachers is gearing up for a transformative journey. These dedicated educators are set to embark on a three-month training program in China, a collaborative initiative between the Seychellois Ministry of Education and the Chinese government. This educational endeavor aims to empower Seychellois TVET instructors with advanced teaching skills and promote cultural exchange between the two nations.

Comprising eight teachers hailing from seven secondary schools
Comprising eight teachers hailing from seven secondary schools in Seychelles, including Praslin, Anse Royale, Ile Perseverance, La Digue, Plaisance, Pointe Larue, and English River, this diverse group represents the future of vocational education in the country. They are set to depart for China next week and will receive training at three renowned Chinese colleges: Weifang Vocational College, Jining Polytechnic, and the Wuhan Technical College of Communications.

A Blossoming Partnership with Significant Implications
The collaborative effort between Seychelles and China, cemented by a memorandum of understanding signed on December 23, 2022, holds the promise of transformative change. This partnership serves multiple purposes, including elevating the instructional skills of Seychellois vocational education teachers, fostering cultural and educational exchange, and strengthening the bond between the two nations.
Speaking at the ceremony held at the Ministry of Education’s headquarters in Mont Fleuri, John Lesperance, the principal secretary for education sector development, lauded the progress made under the partnership. He emphasized the deliberate selection of Chinese occupational standards that align with Seychelles’ occupational needs, with the ultimate goal of enriching curriculum development at the National Technical and Vocational Secondary School and elevating the quality of education across professional centers.

With the successful completion of the first cohort’s training in China and their exceptional testimonies, the second cohort is poised to follow in their footsteps. Departing on September 12, 2023, these teachers will undergo an intensive training program that runs until December 9, 2023, setting the stage for an empowered generation of TVET instructors in Seychelles.
