Oman and Saudi Arabia Forge Deeper Relations with Royal Diplomacy

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia embarked on a diplomatic tour that recently took him from India to the Sultanate of Oman. Upon his arrival in Oman, Crown Prince Mohammed was welcomed by Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. The meeting between the two leaders is poised to cover a wide range of topics, including regional and international developments, as well as strategies for strengthening their countries’ economic cooperation.

Fraternal Relations

Oman and Saudi Arabia have a longstanding history of amicable relations, and this visit is a testament to the strength of their fraternal bond. As expressed by the Omani Foreign Minister in earlier remarks, the strong bond that the two countries share is symbolized in the Omani-Saudi Coordination Council. This council has played an influential role in shaping the bi-national relationship and has led to considerable cooperation in various sectors such as politics, economy, and security.

Saudi Arabia carries immense significance in Oman’s foreign relations, as can be seen by Sultan Haitham’s initial official foreign visit to Saudi Arabia in 2021. The Foreign Minister of Oman also pointed out the similarities in the future visions of the two nations. He highlighted Oman Vision 2040 and Saudi Vision 2030, two ambitious plans with commonalities in sectors like logistics, renewable energy, food security, and water resources. The Minister further expressed Oman’s interest in supporting these visions by identifying and developing opportunities and integrated projects between them.
