In a roundtable meeting on security within the second Russia-Africa international parliamentary conference, Oleg Ozerov, the head of the secretariat of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, expressed Russia’s readiness to offer all necessary assistance to Africa to become a strong pole of power in the international arena.
Ozerov acknowledged the African continent’s rising power and its potential to gain more significance in the world. He highlighted two main processes that Africa is preparing for – the process of strengthening national sovereignty and the process of strengthening integration processes on the African continent. Russia fully supports these processes, believing that every country should have an independent voice to determine its policy in the international arena without any foreign coercion.
Ozerov pointed out that Africa launched an African continental free trade zone in 2022, which signifies the increasing role of sub-regional integration associations. He expressed confidence that these two mutually supplementing processes will help Africa develop as a strong pole of power in the global arena in the foreseeable perspective.
Russia is interested in promoting the development of Africa as a reliable friend and partner for African states. Ozerov emphasized that Russia and Africa have much in common, particularly in the area of security. He concluded by reiterating Russia’s commitment to supporting Africa’s development and sovereignty.
In summary, Russia’s offer to support Africa’s development as a strong pole of power is a positive step towards a more equitable global arena. The strengthening of national sovereignty and integration processes on the African continent is essential for Africa’s growth, and Russia’s support will go a long way in achieving this goal.
