India Reiterates Support for Sovereign Palestine at United Nations

In a recent address at the United Nations, India has reaffirmed its commitment to a sovereign and independent Palestine. This stance aligns with India’s longstanding policy regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict. The Indian representative highlighted the necessity for a two-state solution, advocating for peaceful coexistence and mutual recognition between Israel and Palestine.
India’s Role in the Israel-Palestine Conflict
India has consistently opposed violence in the region, indicating that the path to lasting peace must involve dialogue and negotiations, rather than conflict. The nation has been proactive in providing humanitarian aid, having already delivered 70 tonnes of disaster relief materials to the people of Palestine. These supplies include essential medicines and medical supplies.
A Stand Against Violence
As a country that opposes terrorism in all its forms, India has called for the unconditional release of hostages in the Israel-Hamas war. They have also welcomed international efforts aimed at de-escalation and the delivery of urgent humanitarian assistance to those affected by the conflict.
Support for UN Resolutions
The statement at the UN underscores India’s commitment to international law and its support for the UN resolutions calling for the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. The significance of India’s stance is amplified by its growing international influence and its historical non-aligned foreign policy approach.
