Shibli Faraz, a leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political party, was admitted to a hospital on Saturday after his health deteriorated while in police custody. Sources report that Faraz’s condition worsened due to police shelling at PTI workers who were accompanying PTI Chairman Imran Khan during his court appearance.
Earlier in the day, the Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad claimed that several policemen were injured by stone-pelting PTI workers. He also accused enraged PTI workers of burning down a police check post in Islamabad, and stated that the police are investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, the Interior Minister, Rana Sana Ullah, stated that Imran Khan was supposed to appear before the court at 3:30 pm but had not yet done so. He revealed that the CM Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan squad were also accompanying the PTI chairman to court.
The incident has caused concern among the public and raised questions about the treatment of political leaders and their supporters in police custody. The hashtag JusticeForPTILeaders has been trending on social media, with many calling for an investigation into the matter.
