On Thursday, Pakistan’s foreign secretary, Dr. Asad Majeed Khan, traveled to China to discuss the deepening of their bolster strategic alliance with his Chinese counterpart.
He will hold talks with Chinese officials on issues of mutual concern, including Pakistan’s financial difficulties.
On Friday, he is scheduled to meet with Qin Gang, the Chinese foreign minister, to explore measures for further strengthening their bilateral ties.
Additionally, political talks jointly chaired by Dr. Khan and Sun Weidong, the Chinese Vice Foreign Minister, will also take place.
With Pakistan facing urgent economic challenges and the possibility of a financial collapse, a Chinese bank had previously promised to provide another refinanced $500 million loan, out of the $2 billion promised, with the Chinese loan amounting to $1.7 billion.
