Pakistan has also stepped forward to claim responsibility for this significant breakthrough, claiming it also helped to facilitate the trilateral conversation as the widely welcomed reconciliation between two regional nations—Saudi Arabia and Iran—became public.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, a spokesperson for the Foreign Office, said during a weekly briefing on Friday: “Pakistan, along with a number of other nations that are allied with both Saudi Arabia and Iran, have contributed to encouraging dialogue.” In this context, I’d also want to remind you that the first encounter between the two foreign ministers happened in Islamabad, ongoing with the OIC meeting.
She expressed her satisfaction with the development, saying: “It was evident that this accord was a result of China’s meditation efforts and the helpful conversations that it had arranged, and the two sides were able to resolve their issues.”
“Pakistan does not intend to take credit away from China in this recent agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia on normalizing relations and congratulates them on their successful diplomatic efforts,” she continued.
