Hours before Imran Khan was scheduled to go before the court that had issued arrest warrants for him, Imran Khan said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has formed a committee to run the party in the case of his arrest.
Following his ouster from office last year, the former premier organised nationwide rallies and was the target of a number of legal actions.
Before leaving for Islamabad early on Saturday, he said in an interview at his Lahore home: “I have created a committee that will definitely take decisions once—if—I’m inside” jail.
A recent police effort to arrest Khan resulted in violent confrontations that injured scores of police officers.
Punjab Police broke into Khan’s Zaman Park home hours after he went to attend the Toshakhana case hearing today and detained a number of party members.
He claimed there were 94 cases against him.
