
Oman’s Vision for Sustainability Shines Bright at the 18th G20 Summit

The Sultanate of Oman’s significant participation as a guest of honor in the 18th G20 Summit has paved the way for reinforcing and expanding its diplomatic ties with member states of the prestigious group. His Excellency Pankaj Khimji, Advisor to the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Foreign Trade and International Cooperation, who serves as the main coordinator of Oman’s involvement in G20 meetings, emphasized the profound significance of this participation. He noted that it provides Oman with an invaluable opportunity to gain insights into the intricacies of global decision-making, spanning political, economic, and financial spheres. Through direct engagement with leaders from developed nations, Oman aims to glean knowledge on ways to attain sustainable development goals.

Oman’s participation in the G20 Summit is deeply intertwined with its aspirations outlined in “Oman Vision 2040.” The country seeks to activate communication channels on topics and objectives aligned with this vision. It also seeks to evaluate the compatibility of these trends with Oman’s policies and strategies, emphasizing the adoption of new sustainable approaches.

Alternative energy is a pivotal area of focus for Oman’s future sustainability. The G20 Summit offers Oman a platform to engage with major consumers and producers in the alternative energy sector. This engagement is expected to benefit Oman across all sectors. During the summit, Oman participated in over 200 meetings, including nine ministerial meetings where key government decision-makers were briefed on international trends in these sectors.
