The wife of imprisoned Nobel laureate from Belarus will accept his medal in Oslo.

The wife of imprisoned Belarusian campaigner Ales Bialiatski, one of this year’s Nobel Peace Prize winners, will accept the prize on his behalf at the next ceremony, organizers announced on Friday.
In October, the renowned award was shared by the Center for Civil Liberties in Ukraine, which is compiling evidence of “Russian war crimes” against the Ukrainian people, Bialiatski, 60, and Memorial, a Russian rights organization.
The three will be honored at a formal ceremony in Oslo on December 10.
When Belarus’ autocratic President, Alexander Lukashenko, claimed victory in rigged elections in 2020, Bialiatski was imprisoned as a result of his widespread anti-regime protests.
His wife, Natalia Pinchuk, will be his representative in Norway.
“We are very happy that she has left Belarus, and everything is in place for her to participate in the (Nobel) ceremony at Oslo City Hall on December 10,” Nobel Institute head Olav Njolstad said in an email.
