Since 2013, the air forces of Norway, Sweden, and Finland organised the Arctic Challenge Exercise every year.
The sixth edition of the fighter exercise is now planned and scheduled to take place in the country’s shared airspace in the north. As of now, 145 aircraft will take part, with 100 of them being fighter jets.
In comparison, approximately 70 aircraft participated in the previous year’s somewhat corona-scaled exercise. ACE 23 is projected to take place over two weeks in May/June 2023.
About 14 countries have committed to participating in the exercise next spring: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, and the United States.
