The Imo State House of Assembly election witnessed a significant drop in voter turnout, with polling units being deserted. Despite the early arrival of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials at several polling stations, only a handful of voters were spotted on election day.
Some INEC workers were taking a nap in some of the polling places visited. At Orlu Road Primary School in Owerri North Local Government Area, only 12 voters were present at the two polling units on the school premises at 10:11 AM.
A voter named Chris Onyekwere confirmed the early arrival of INEC officials but expressed disappointment over the low voter turnout.
