Gunmen Attack INEC Officials in Kogi State, Six Missing and Several Injured

In a recent incident that occurred on Sunday, unknown gunmen attacked a bus carrying officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abajana, Kogi State. The attack happened around 2 am, leaving six people missing and several others injured, including police officers.

Reports suggest that the attackers barricaded the bus and abducted six individuals, which included two corps members and four ex-members. The injured individuals were admitted to the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Lokoja for medical attention.

Fortunately, no deaths were reported during the attack as security operatives quickly responded to the situation. However, the incident has raised concerns about the safety of INEC officials as the country prepares for the upcoming general elections.

The State Police Spokesman, SP Williams Ovye-Aya, confirmed the attack and assured that the police are investigating the matter. It is unclear who is responsible for the attack or their motives, but it is crucial that the perpetrators are brought to justice to prevent similar incidents in the future.
