Allegations have arisen that many Igbos residing in Lagos have been prevented from participating in the gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections.
This follows a threat made by the Chairman of the Lagos park management, MC Oluomo, regarding the elections on Saturday, resulting in many people of Igbo extraction being warned to stay away from the polling centers.
In some polling units, such as those located at Ikota Primary School, the electorate is being asked to provide their state of residence before being allowed to vote.
While some people are blaming the lack of security officials, others accuse them of complicity with the ruling party in disenfranchising them. The affected electorate is reportedly expressing dissatisfaction with the situation.
