Arsonists Set INEC Office On Fire In Ebonyi, Destroys PVC

Arsonists have set the Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (@inecnigeria) on fire, destroying 340 ballot boxes and a yet-to-be-known number of Permanent Voters’ Cards.
This was contained in a statement released by the commission’s spokesman, Barrister Festus Okoye. The attack is the third in recent times following the destruction of INEC offices in Ogun and Osun State in early November.
The statement reads in part, “The incident occurred around 10.00 am when some unidentified persons set the entire building ablaze. The main building and all the movable and immovable items inside it were destroyed.
“These include 340 ballot boxes, 130 voting cubicles, 14 electric power generators, large water storage tanks, assorted office furniture and fixtures, and yet-to-be-determined quantities of Permanent Voters’ Cards.
“The attention of the Nigeria Police Force (@PoliceNG) and other security agencies has been drawn to the incident and have commenced investigation,” he added.
