Mongolian Wrestler Otgonjargal Dolgorjav Claims Silver at World Wrestling Championships “Belgrad 2023”

Mongolian State Honored Athlete, Otgonjargal Dolgorjav, has made her nation proud by clinching a silver medal in the women’s 50 kg category at the World Wrestling Championships “Belgrad 2023”. The journey to the finals was filled with intense match-ups against several world-class athletes, reflecting Dolgorjav’s tenacity and skill.
Her path to the silver medal was lined with formidable opponents. In the 1/8 match, Dolgorjav encountered Turkish freestyle wrestler Evin Demirhan, a two-time Bronze Medalist of the World Championships. With a winning score of 8-3, Dolgorjav proved her mettle. The quarterfinals saw her facing Kseniya Stankevich, a Belarusian wrestler who is a two-time Bronze Medalist of the European Wrestling Championships. Dolgorjav dominated the match, sealing a resounding 12-1 victory.
The semifinals brought Dolgorjav against Olympic Bronze Medalist Sarah Hildebrandt from the US. This marked the second consecutive year Dolgorjav bested Hildebrandt in the World Championships’ semifinals. Despite Hildebrandt’s efforts to make a comeback in the second period, Dolgorjav maintained her lead, winning with a final score of 7-5.
The championship match saw Dolgorjav facing Yui Susaki from Japan, an Olympic Champion and a three-time Gold Medalist of World Championships. Despite Dolgorjav’s determined effort, she was defeated by Susaki in a 10-0 technical fall.
However, the silver medal win is not the end of the road for Dolgorjav. She has now become a two-time Silver Medalist of the World Championships and has secured her qualification for the upcoming Olympics. This achievement puts her on the path towards the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where she will have another chance to showcase her prowess and compete for a gold medal.
