LEVEL Airlines Expands its Reach with Barcelona-Miami Route

A New Route for LEVEL
Barcelona-based airline, LEVEL, is set to launch a new flight route between Barcelona and Miami starting March 31st, 2024. The addition of this route has been made possible due to the incorporation of a sixth Airbus A330-200 to the company’s fleet. The new route will start at the beginning of the summer season with flights from Barcelona to Miami planned to depart on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 3:50 pm, arriving in Miami at 8:00 pm. The return flights are scheduled to depart Miami at 9:45 pm, landing in Barcelona at 1:10 am the next day.
Fifth American City for LEVEL
With the addition of the new route, Miami is set to become the fifth American city that LEVEL services. The airline currently offers routes to New York, Boston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. The flights are already available for purchase on the company’s website with prices starting from 225€ per trip.
Connecting Barcelona with America
Lucía Adrover, the commercial head of LEVEL, stated that the new route represents a significant step in the company’s commitment to connecting Barcelona with distant destinations in America. The company aims to diversify its product offerings to provide a broader and robust product to their clientele. The decision to expand to Miami was influenced not only by its tourist attractions and significant tourism market for Barcelona but also by the recent business and cultural boom the city has experienced. Like Barcelona, Miami is a cosmopolitan city with important financial, commercial, and entertainment industry districts.
LEVEL: A Low-Cost, Long-Haul Airline
LEVEL is a “low-cost and long-haul” airline that is part of the IAG conglomerate. As the sixth brand of this business conglomerate, LEVEL operates alongside Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia, Iberia Express, and Vueling. The conglomerate boasts a total fleet of 558 aircraft and transports 94 million passengers each year to 256 destinations.
More Than Just the U.S Expansion
While the Barcelona-Miami route draws attention, it’s important to note that LEVEL’s expansion isn’t solely focused on the U.S. The airline is broadening its operations to Buenos Aires by offering nine weekly services from Barcelona starting October 28, 2023. Additionally, the number of flights to Santiago de Chile will increase to five per week during the winter season.
A Resurgence of Low-Cost Carriers
There has been a remarkable resurgence of low-cost carriers in the transatlantic market over the past year. In fact, the share of low-cost seats on routes between Europe and North America was about 4% in the first quarter of 2023, a significant increase from zero just two years ago. LEVEL’s expansion comes amid this increasingly competitive low-cost transatlantic market, offering aggressive pricing and unbundled service offerings.
A Significant Expansion of the Transatlantic Network
LEVEL’s decision to increase its transatlantic network marks a 25% increase in seat availability. The expansion includes the launch of a new direct flight from Barcelona to Miami International Airport, marking the airline’s first-ever landing in Florida. The expansion will begin on October 28, 2023, coinciding with the start of the winter season. In addition to the U.S., LEVEL is enhancing its presence in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, and Santiago de Chile.
Expansion Made Possible by More Aircraft
Accompanying the significant increase in flights from Barcelona to destinations in America, LEVEL is planning a considerable expansion of its fleet. Three additional second-hand Airbus A330-200 aircraft are scheduled for delivery soon. These aircraft, registered under its parent airline, Iberia, will be operated by LEVEL, ensuring the expansion and increased connectivity of the airline.
