Azimio now wants the IEBC boss to take a terminal leave

The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition has now requested that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati, as well as commissioners Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu, be granted terminal leave.
Azimio stated at a meeting led by coalition party leader Raila Odinga in Naivasha that the moves to remove four IEBC commissioners are heavily affected by succession at the commission.
“It is therefore our demand that Wafula Chebukati and the other two outgoing IEBC commissioners move to their terminal leave immediately to prevent further cannibalization of the Commission,” the coalition said in a statement read by Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o on Friday.
Azimio persisted in opposing the IEBC Vice Chair Juliana Cherera, Justus Nyang’aya, Irene Masit, and Francis Wanderi’s removal from office. This is due to the fact that the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC) of Parliament is now reviewing four petitions calling for the expulsion of the four commissioners.
In order to that end, Prof. Nyong’o said, “We take serious notice of and strongly condemn the revenge mission the regime has embarked on against conscientious IEBC commissioners who had the audacity to reject the electoral coup perpetrated by the IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati while trying to sanitize the conduct of electoral thieves at the Commission.
The opposition leaders spoke during a meeting that included Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and NARC Kenya head Martha Karua.
“Even though election rigging may have been covered in legal garb, it is nonetheless illegal and opposed to the rule of law. The Kisumu Governor continued, “We will never permit election cheating to set a new standard in our nation. Our battle for electoral justice continues.
The coalition maintained its opposition to the nation’s relaxation of the GMO prohibition.
According to Nyong’o, “We shall vehemently confront and oppose all dangerous policies and practices of the Kenya Kwanza regime including the sinister efforts to introduce GMO food and/or seeds, destruction of our environment including the reintroduction of the discredited “shamba system,” attempts to tax the most vulnerable segments of our society including Mama Mbogas, and increasing the cost of living.”
