Kanye West credits Jonah Hill performance for changing views on anti-semitism American rapper Kanye West, also known as Ye, has returned to Instagram after having his account restricted last year over anti-semitic posts.
In his latest post, West claimed that Jonah Hill’s performance in “21 Jump Street” made him like Jewish people again, and no one should take anger against one or two individuals and transform it into hatred towards millions of innocent people.
West added, “No Christian can be labeled antisemite knowing Jesus is a Jew. Thank you Jonah Hill I love you.” West’s accounts were restricted after he stirred controversy by wearing a “White Lives Matter” T-shirt during the Paris Fashion Week in 2020, which many saw as a misappropriation of the slogan “Black Lives Matter.”
The phrase became a rallying cry for protests against racism and police brutality sparked by the murder of George Floyd. West had previously posted screenshots of a conversation with rapper Diddy, who called out West over the T-shirt and its message.
The posts have since been deleted from the platform, but images can still be found online. The American Jewish Committee had also criticized West for fomenting hatred of Jews.
West’s latest comments on Instagram sparked mixed reactions online, with some people applauding his newfound perspective, while others remained skeptical.
The rapper has been known for his controversial statements and actions, but he has also been involved in various philanthropic and entrepreneurial ventures throughout his career.
