The foreign ministry said on Monday that Iran will reject a newly appointed independent United Nations investigation into the country’s repression of anti-government protests.
Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani @IRIMFA_SPOX said, “Iran will have no cooperation with the political committee formed by the U.N. Rights Council.
The United Nations Human Rights Council voted on Thursday to set up an investigation into Iran’s deadly crackdown on protests.
The United Nations Human Rights Commissioner, Volker Turk @volker_turk, had previously demanded that Iran stop using “disproportionate” force to quell protests sparked by the death in custody of 22-year-old Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini on September 16.
