Seychelles Ministry Explores Indonesian Youth and Family Programs for Adaptation

The Ministry of Youth, Sports & Family from Seychelles recently embarked on a working mission to Indonesia. The delegation, led by Principal Secretary Clive Roucou, included GyraNibourette, director general for Strategic Human Resource, and Beryl Naiken, director general for the Quality of Life Division. The primary objective of this mission was to gain insights into Indonesia’s comprehensive, structured programs and services, with the aim of adapting and implementing these best practices in Seychelles.
Indonesia has earned a reputation for its exhaustive programs and services that cater to a wide range of target groups, including the youth, the elderly, individuals with disabilities, and retirees. The Seychelles delegation attended high-level meetings with key officials in Indonesia, including the chief of the National Family Planning Coordinating Board of Indonesia (BKKBN) and the director of International Training for Family Welfare & Family Development.
Learning from the Ground Up
The delegation visited various program centers in Indonesia, providing firsthand experiences and insights into how Indonesia operates its holistic programs. These centers included the Elderly School Program, programs for Youth, Family Planning Association Centre, Family Income Generating Program, and Role Model Village & Community in Jakarta. These visits allowed the delegation to understand how such services could be applied to Seychelles’ context, from providing education for the elderly to family planning services and economic empowerment programs.
This crucial mission to Indonesia was facilitated with the support of Nico Barito, the honorary consul for Seychelles in Indonesia. The knowledge and experiences gained during this mission will serve as a catalyst for the development and implementation of similar initiatives in Seychelles. The ultimate goal is to enhance the quality of life for its citizens, improve the lives of its people, and foster a brighter future.
