Indian Railways has achieved another major milestone in its ambitious mission of 100% electrification of its railways. The organization has successfully electrified the Broad Gauge (BG) route in the Ferozpur Division of Jammu & Kashmir, marking a significant advancement towards its goal of making the biggest green railway network in the world.
According to an official, Indian Railways has already electrified 85% of its route kilometers. The recent electrification of the 298 RKM of the BG route in Jammu & Kashmir UT is a significant achievement towards the mission of 100% electrification. The official further added that this accomplishment will improve Union Territory railway connectivity and speed, making it easier for commuters to travel across the region.
The electrification of the BG route will also help Indian Railways to reduce its carbon footprint and contribute towards a cleaner environment. With this new development, Indian Railways is making rapid progress towards becoming the world’s biggest network of green railways.
