In a major relief for consumers, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) in India have announced a reduction in the cost of commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 83.50. Effective from today, this price cut marks a significant shift in the pricing of commercial LPG cylinders.

"Current Retail Price for Commercial LPG Cylinders"

Following the price reduction, the current retail price for a 19 kg LPG cylinder stands at Rs 1,773 in Delhi. It's important to note, however, that there has been no change in the rates of Domestic LPG cylinders, as stated by the OMCs.

"Previous Price Changes and Adjustments"

The price of LPG cylinders has seen several adjustments in the past. Last month, the price was increased by Rs 171.50, bringing the retail price for a 19 kg LPG cylinder to Rs 1,856.50 in Delhi. Earlier this year, in March, domestic LPG cylinder prices increased by Rs. 50 per unit and commercial LPG cylinder prices increased by Rs. 350.50 per unit.

"Unchanged Prices for Domestic LPG Cylinders"

Despite the changes in commercial LPG cylinder prices, the prices of domestic LPG cylinders have remained unchanged. Most non-Ujjwala users, who do not receive any government subsidies, will continue to pay the existing price when purchasing cooking gas refills.

"Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and Subsidies"

The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, a government initiative, has provided 9.58 crore impoverished people with free LPG connections and a subsidy of Rs 200 per cylinder. For these beneficiaries, the actual cost per cylinder will be Rs 903.

"Petrol and Diesel Prices Remain Unchanged"

Despite the changes in LPG cylinder prices, the price of petrol and diesel has remained frozen for a record-breaking 11th consecutive month. State-owned fuel merchants have not updated the pricing of petrol and diesel on a daily basis since April 6, 2022.
