Honduras plans to resume diplomatic relations with China
Honduras

Xiomara Castro de Zelaya, the President of Honduras, has announced her country’s intention to restore diplomatic relations with China.

She has directed Chancellor Eduardo Reina to lead the effort in establishing official ties with the People’s Republic of China, as part of her commitment to expanding Honduras’ global partnerships in line with the Government Plan.

However, to fulfil China’s diplomatic requirements, Honduras will need to sever its ties with Taiwan if it chooses to establish official relations with China.

In an interesting development, the two countries are currently exploring the possibility of constructing a hydroelectric dam, Patuca II, to boost Honduras’ energy supply.
