Fishermen Capture Predatory Shark Responsible for Fatal Attack in Hurghada, Egypt

Fishermen Intercept Dangerous Shark
Video footage captured the gripping moments when a group of fishermen in Hurghada, Egypt, successfully caught a “predatory” shark responsible for the tragic death of a young Russian on Thursday. The incident shed light on the unusual behavior of the shark, prompting further investigation into its motives and patterns.
Investigating the Shark’s Behavior
Following the attack, the shark lingered near the shore for two hours, indicating a potential threat of further aggression. Seizing the opportunity, the fishermen took swift action to apprehend the shark, recognizing the need to dissect and examine it to determine the underlying factors that triggered its predatory behavior towards humans.

The captured shark, identified as a “tiger” shark, is a known species in the Red Sea region. However, its offensive behavior towards humans is an anomaly that requires careful analysis and understanding. The preliminary investigation indicated that this fish is mostly behind two previous attacks on the coasts of Hurghada and Marsa Alam, last year and the year before.
A shark attack on a human is not normal, especially when the fish repeats its attack to the point of killing, as happened with the young Russian. Mohamed Salem, head of the nature protection sector at the Egyptian Ministry of Environment, said: “It is possible that a shark attacks humans, but in natural cases, once a shark bites a human and discovers that it is not from its known natural food sources, it leaves him, and if it continues to attack, it means that it has some kind of defect”.
