The election schedule for the 2022–2027 cycle was released this Saturday, November 26, in Kinshasa by the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI).
In front of political figures, election participants, and the media, CENI President Denis Kadima highlighted the key points of this calendar.
Among the key dates on this calendar, we notice that the operation to find and register voters starts on December 24, 2022. This operation will be carried out gradually in several operational provinces both domestically and overseas in the DRC.
On June 25, 2023, the electorate will be called to convocation for the national deputation.
On December 20, the President of the Republic, provincial and national representatives, and local council members will be chosen.
Denis Kadima noted the limitations on electoral process conduct that were already stated in the roadmap, which she issued in February 2022.
According to him, if these obstacles and limits are not overcome, it will have an impact on the calendar, but “slipping is still not part of their lexicon.”
To that aim, he urged the country’s institutions and all stakeholders to “responsibly participate in the conclusion of this process.”
