The report of the Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs focused mostly on the security situation in the east and west of the country during the 78th meeting of the Council of Ministers on November 25, 2022, which was presided over by Head of State Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo.
Gilbert Kabanda reviewed the continuing operations, focusing on those in North Kivu’s Rutshuru, which were distinguished by M23/RDF alliance attacks.
According to the Council of Minister’s report, “In the West, the situation in Kwamouth is under control, despite the attackers’ migration to the Maidombe Province’s neighboring entities and their propensity to turn the conflict into an insurrectionary movement, particularly through attacks on the Congo River.”
Furthermore, the Minister of Defence informed the Council that the President’s call is still attracting Congolese nationalists.
“To date, the Kitona Center has registered 8,000 recruits, with additional arrivals being reported on a regular basis,” said the Minister of Defence.
It should also be highlighted that this Report has been taken into consideration by the Council of Ministers.
