According to a speech transcript posted on Friday by a Chinese university, the founder of Huawei Technologies Co Ltd stated that the Chinese tech giant had replaced over 13,000 components in its products that were impacted by trade sanctions imposed by the United States.
Ren Zhengfei stated in his February speech, as per the transcript posted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, that Huawei had replaced the 13,000 affected components in its products with domestically produced Chinese substitutes over the past three years.
Additionally, he mentioned that the company had redesigned 4,000 circuit boards in its products during the same period.
In his speech, Ren Zhengfei mentioned that the production of circuit boards at Huawei had reached a state of stability.
Ren Zhengfei’s speech provided insight into Huawei’s endeavors to recover from the impact of U.S. trade sanctions.
Since 2019, Huawei, a significant provider of equipment for 5G telecommunication networks, has been subjected to a series of U.S. export controls.
These measures have significantly affected the company’s operations by limiting its access to U.S. technology tools and cutting off its supply of chips from U.S. firms.
The U.S. export controls imposed on Huawei have resulted in the company losing access to both U.S. chip suppliers and technology tools required for designing chips that are produced by its partners. As a result, Huawei’s operations have been severely impacted.
Additionally, in 2020, the Biden administration banned the sale of new Huawei equipment in the U.S. These restrictions have further affected Huawei’s ability to do business with U.S. companies and access the U.S. market.
