On Friday, two schools in Aracruz, in the northern region of Espirito Santo, were targeted by shootings. Three people were killed, and ten others were injured, according to the Military Police.
There is still no word on the identities of the victims or how the injured are faring. The suspect who carried out the attack first entered the Primo Bitti State School. He stormed the teachers’ lounge and shot everyone. Two people were killed on the spot.
Following the first attack, the suspect drove to the second school in a gold-colored car with its license plates covered. He fired five shots at students at Darwin Private Elementary and High Schools. One of them died immediately.
Colonel Márcio Celante, State Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense, stated that police are conducting searches to find the perpetrator of the attacks on educational units.
“After prioritizing victims, our commitment now is to identify and apprehend the criminal.”
The investigations are continuing. Vitória Civil and Military Police teams have arrived and are looking for this suspect. “However, we don’t know if he’s a former student or has a stake in the school,” the secretary explained.
“Based on preliminary information obtained from images, the criminal was alone and broke a padlock to gain entry to the first school.” The teachers’ room was near the gate’s entrance.
He had direct access to the room during the break and thus surprised and killed the teachers, nine of whom were rescued and two of whom died,” Celante added.
The secretary stated that he used a semi-automatic pistol. He was dressed in camouflage and his face was hidden behind a mask, making identification impossible from the video.

The Military Police reported that the crime was committed by a teenage student who studies in the afternoon.
