Many Brussels residents said that they had not received their quarterly advance water bills for months. While, Brussels water company Vivaqua stated that there are “major delays” in collecting payments from over a quarter of customers, around 90,000 water connections.
A year ago, the Brussels intercommunal association Vivaqua switched to new software to manage customer data but, due to software issues, hasn’t been able to send bills to its customers. Vivaqua supplies drinking water to 19 Brussels municipalities and four municipalities in Walloon Brabant.
Spokesperson Saar Vanderplaetsen in a statement, said, “major problems surfaced when transferring customer information resulting in the data of tens of thousands of customers not being transferred correctly.”
