At least 18 were injured in a major car accident underneath the Yerba Buena Tunnel in San Francisco

WATCH: #BNNUS Reports. At least 18 people were injured, including eight children in a major multiple-vehicle traffic accident inside San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Tunnel on Thursday.

The San Francisco Fire Department @SFFDPIO confirmed a multi-casualty incident inside the tunnel in a tweet. Some of the injured had to be rescued from their vehicles, according to reports.

The incident occurred in the tunnel’s eastbound lanes and involved at least six vehicles. Several cars were stacked on top of each other in video footage shared on social media.

Four ambulances are said to be on the scene, with paramedics assisting the injured, with four of them being transferred to a hospital’s emergency unit. It was stressed that no one was seriously injured.
