Carlos Kambourian, former president of the Board of Directors of Garrahan Hospital during Macri’s presidency, was indicted on charges of violation of the duties of a public official and embezzlement of public funds.
Federal Judge Luis Rodríguez indicted the pediatrician without preventive detention. The ruling also included the former Administrative Director of Garrahan, Alan Norton, and ordered the seizure of the assets of both defendants for 1.5 million pesos each.
The indictment by U.S. Attorney Maria Mangano argued that between May 2018 and January 2020, Kambourian and Norton used different hospital corporate VISA cards with which they made purchases and expenditures for their own benefit, which they then failed to justify.
The representative of the Public Prosecutor’s Office added that the implementation of the aforementioned corporate cards was expressly requested by the Board of Directors led by Kambourian.
Judge Rodriguez noted that Norton and Kambourian ignored the rules established in the Hospital’s current contracting regulations
