The Forest Fire Brigade will be based in the Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve, the largest in the city with 350 hectares, but will also protect the Villa Lugano and Costanera Norte reserves.
This initiative was developed by the Secretary of the Environment of the City of Buenos Aires, the Undersecretary of Emergencies, the Fire Department of the City, the Higher Institute of Public Safety (ISSP) and the management of the Ecological Reserve.
The project had its impulse after the contribution of members of the Fire Department of the City and its Special Rescue Group (GER), in the fight against fires in the fields of the province of Corrientes, in the first months of this year.
The firefighters, who received training at the Instituto Superior de Seguridad Pública (ISSP) and at the Malbrán hospital, completed a specialization course on the handling and coordination of progressive tools.
