There is no justification for freezing the Afghan assets – Khairkhwah

The acting Minister of Information and Culture, Khairullah Khairkhwah in his statement at a gathering held by the members of the Afghan private sector, said that there is no justification for freezing the Afghan assets and urged the authorities to return the funds to the people of Afghanistan at the earliest.

“I do not want it so much for the government as I do for the private sector. Freezing government assets is an oppressive act but freezing the assets of the private sector has no justification,” Khairkhwah said.

The head of the Afghanistan Chamber of Industry and Mines, Sherbaz Kaminzada, in his statement at the same gathering said that the move has adversely affected Afghan traders.

“When the Afghan assets were frozen it had a negative impact on our international credibility. We used to be able to transfer money at low cost but no we cannot,” Kaminzada said.
