Pakistani Girls Studying in Afghanistan get Chance to Continue Education in Pakistan
Many Pakistani female students studying in Afghanistan were left uncertain about their future following the closure of universities to women in the country. However, Pakistan has now given these students an opportunity to continue their education, provided they pass a ‘Knowledge Test.’

Demonstration demanding admission to Pakistani universities
Prior to this decision, the students who survived studying in Afghanistan had held a demonstration, demanding admission to Pakistani universities. However, the erstwhile Medical Commission of Pakistan failed to support these students as many of them had failed medical and dental college entrance exams and registered in Afghanistan without obtaining permission or informing the Pakistan Medical Council.
Chance to sit for the exam
In a recent statement, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council had announced that it has decided to give these students a chance to sit for the exam. The council stated that students who missed their studies due to the conflict in Ukraine are also subject to this test.

Evaluation held
According to information provided by this scientific institution, out of 512 candidates considered for this exam, 360 students appeared in this evaluation held at Rawalpindi Medical University.
National Equivalence Training
In Pakistan, a “National Equivalence Training” is held twice a year to determine the level of knowledge and professional skills of students who have partially completed their education in foreign countries. This training program provides a platform for students like these, who are unable to complete their education in their country of origin.
Opportunity for Education
This decision by Pakistan’s Medical and Dental Council to provide an opportunity for education to Pakistani girls studying in Afghanistan is a positive step towards promoting education in the region.
