Afghan women football players have voiced their criticism of a British media organization’s report on the evacuation of “false footballers” from Afghanistan following the Taliban’s return in 2021.
The report claimed that the footballers evacuated to the UK were not top players, which could potentially make them vulnerable.
The media organization has now admitted that 13 of the 35 women who were evacuated were not national or regional football players as claimed at the time.
This has caused mental and physical agony for the players who now fear for their lives and that of their families.
The report has been condemned by Sahar Chamran, who was also mentioned without being asked, on Twitter.
The Afghan women’s development team members living in Doncaster are on the verge of tears as they speak, fearing for their safety and that of their families.
