A major fire broke out Thursday evening at the wholesale Bhagirath Palace market in North Delhi’s Chandni Chowk area. The fire was extinguished after all-night operations.
According to an official statement from the Delhi Fire Department, the fire has been extinguished and cooling operations are underway, with 22 fire tenders working on the cooling operation at the site. Initially, 18 to 20 fire tenders were dispatched to the scene, but around 40 fire engines were eventually sent out to put out the fire.
Atul Garg, Director of the Delhi Fire Service, stated that there were no reports of injury to anyone as yet. The Delhi police stated that more than 50 shops were gutted in a massive fire in the wholesale market of the Bhagirat Palace area.
