US State Department spokesman Ned Price was asked whether Washington would support Finland's possible accession to the Alliance without Sweden.
“This has always been a conversation about Finland and Sweden,” Price said.
Price noted that they want the transformation from a 28-member alliance to a 30-member NATO take place.
Asked if the US administration had contacted Turkish officials regarding the cessation of tripartite talks, Price said, "Next rounds of talks were not cancelled, they were postponed".
Spokesperson Price said, “This is an opportunity for Finland, Sweden and Turkey to assess where they are. Obviously, we want to see these consultations continue.”
