Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra will construct idols of Lord Ram and Sita. When the sculptures are placed, the temple trust wants to preserve them as similar to Ram and Sita's true skin colour and the same form as the idols that decorated Ayodhya 500 years ago.

The shaligrams for the statue of Ram Lalla for the Ram temple are being imported from Janakpur, Nepal, Mother Janaki's ancestral home, because the temple trust is interested in preserving the spirit of Ram.

With the assistance of the Government of Nepal, these shaligram stones are obtained from the Kali Gandaki river in Nepal. The Kali Gandaki River is home to many shaligrams.

On Tuesday these stones reached Uttar Pradesh. The age of these two stones, one weighing 26 tonnes and the other 14 tonnes, is roughly 60 million years. And this stone will not change over the next 10 million years.

For the Ram Mandir, more stones have been brought in from Rajasthan. The carving of the stones used in the temple's construction is being done at the Ram Katha Kunj temple.

According to legend, Sita, also known as Janaki, was the daughter of Nepalese monarch Janak.
