During his visit to Morelos, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador emphasized that his administration will always prioritize the people in matters of health and that the “budget is open” for whatever is required.
He made the announcement at the IMSS-Wellness National Health Plan event in Temixco, Morelos, in front of local residents, to whom he also promised that the supply of medicines is guaranteed under his mandate.
Based on the Comprehensive Health Care Model, the IMSS-Wellness program provides free health services to people who do not have social security.
It is made up of four components: infrastructure, medicines, human resources, and equipment.
In this context, the president said “work is being done in all areas, but the supply of medicines is receiving special attention, which was previously a business in which only ten companies distributed drugs to the government.”
In this regard, AMLO said the supply of medicines is guaranteed, emphasizing that it will include not only basic medicines, but all necessary medications as well. “The law needed to be amended.”
“We are already buying medicines from all over the world, have an agreement with the UN, and have enough medicines for this year and 2024.”
“Not just the basic tablet, but all of those that are required for free,” he explained.
The state governor, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, thanked the president for his support on health issues, praising him for choosing Morelos as one of the first states to host the IMSS-Wellness program.
