Unexpected Train Movement Results in Injuries
In an unexpected turn of events, a local train at Mathura Junction Railway Station abruptly moved forward, mounting a platform and causing minor injuries to a woman. The woman, identified as Usha Devi, a 39-year-old resident of Jhansi, was promptly given first aid and then sent back to her hometown. The unusual incident occurred after all passengers and crew had disembarked from the electric multiple unit (EMU) train, which had arrived from Shakurbasti. The cause behind the sudden movement of the train remains a mystery, prompting the Railways to order a high-level investigation into the incident.
Train Movement Causes Injury to One
According to Prashashti Srivastava, the Divisional Commercial Manager and Public Relations Officer for the Agra Division of the North Central Railways, the only person injured in the startling incident was Usha Devi. The lady reportedly received an electric shock due to the train’s sudden movement.
Train Operations Resume Despite Incident
In the aftermath of the event, train operations have returned to normal on all platforms, except for platform 2A, which was affected by the accident. Prior to this incident, train service had been disrupted due to an issue with overhead equipment (OHE).
High-Level Inquiry into the Incident
The unusual nature of the accident, coupled with the disruption it caused, have led to the decision for a high-level inquiry. This investigation is to be headed by Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, the Chief Public Relations Officer of North Central Railways. As the situation stands, it remains unclear why the train moved forward after passengers and crew had disembarked. The outcome of the investigation is eagerly awaited as it will shed light on the incident and aid in preventing similar occurrences in the future.
