New Era of Smartphone Photography: Xiaomi Collaborates with Leica for the 13T Series

Xiaomi Unveils the 13T Series with MediaTek SoCs
Chinese multinational electronics company Xiaomi has recently unveiled its latest 13T series. Marking a significant shift from its previous models, the 13T and 13T Pro are equipped with MediaTek SoCs, as opposed to the Snapdragon SoCs present in the preceding series. The 13T model is powered by the Dimensity 8200-Ultra SoC, while the 13T Pro model boasts the Dimensity 9200+-SoC. The 13T comes with an option of 8 or 12GB memory, while the 13T Pro offers 12 or 16GB memory. Both devices are furnished with Lpddr5 memory, and while the 13T features USF 3.1 storage, the 13T Pro is equipped with UFS 4.0 storage.
Uniform Display and Refresh Rate
In stark contrast to the variation in sizes in the previous generation, both models in the 13T series feature the same 6.67″ AMOLED display. The resolution stands at 2712×1220 pixels with a 20:9 aspect ratio. Both phones are equipped with an adaptive refresh rate that can go up to 144Hz, a peak brightness of 2600cd/m2 and support for the full DCI-P3 color spectrum, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+.
First-rate Camera Collaboration with Leica
Further setting the 13T series apart is its camera, which has been developed in collaboration with renowned German company Leica. Both phones share the same triple camera setup. The primary camera sports a 50-megapixel sensor with a 1/1.28″ large sensor size and a 24mm wide-angle lens. Additionally, there is a 50-megapixel telephoto camera and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, ensuring users can capture high-quality images in a range of settings.
Impressive Battery and Charging Capabilities
Both the 13T and 13T Pro models come with a robust 5000mAh battery. The Pro model supports 120W charging, while the regular version supports 67W charging. Both models are IP68 certified for dust and water resistance. As a testament to Xiaomi’s commitment to lengthy device longevity, the phones will receive four generations of Android upgrades and five years of security patches, which is a longer update policy than previous models.
Availability and Pricing
The 13T series measures 162.2×75.7×8.49mm and weighs approximately 200g. It will be available in green, black, and blue color variants. The 13T with 8GB memory and 256GB storage will cost 650 euros, while the 13T Pro with 12GB memory and 512GB storage will be priced at 900 euros. The official release date for the phones has yet to be announced by Xiaomi.
Conclusion
The introduction of the 13T series marks a new era for Xiaomi, ushering in the use of MediaTek SoCs and a collaboration with Leica for its camera setup. While maintaining features that have been well received in earlier models, such as a robust battery and IP68 certification, the 13T series promises to offer a comprehensive smartphone experience. With its competitive pricing and cutting-edge features, the 13T series looks set to make a significant impact in the smartphone market.
