From December 1, 2022, mobile customers won’t be able to download the Google Play Store since the State Bank of Pakistan has stopped paying $34 million to international service providers.
The central bank suspended the direct carrier billing (DCB) method, which caused payments to international service providers, including Google, Amazon, and Meta to be delayed.
Due to the central bank’s decision to stop DCB, the mobile carriers that annually pay $34 million to the service providers were unable to do so.
Customers can now download Google and other international apps for using credit cards or debit cards solely to make purchases.
The credit card facility, however, is limited to a certain number of customers, so the majority of mobile users may be deprived of downloading apps from the Google Play Store.
