Following a report that the HS2 rail line may no longer reach the capital’s center, the chancellor has stated that the line will extend all the way to London Euston. A pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle in east London. Investigators said the collision occurred on Hamilton Road near Watmar Avenue. The man was taken to hospital by paramedics but succumbed to his injuries, police said. The identity of the victim has not been released. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, police said. There’s no word yet on possible charges. The Major Traffic Unit is investigating the matter. Six pedestrians were injured after being hit by a car on a high street in north London. Police are searching for the driver after the vehicle failed to stop in Green Lanes, near Harringay. The incident is being treated as a road traffic collision. Four people were taken to the hospital and two were given treatment at the scene. No life-threatening injuries were reported. The UK police say officers were called at 19:13 GMT and London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade also attended the scene. Meanwhile, some road closures were put in place.

Teachers in England and Wales have planned to strike for seven days in February and March over pay, the National Education Union (NEU) announced. Teaching members of the NEU in England and Wales, and support staff in Wales, have voted overwhelmingly to strike to correct “historic real-terms pay cuts”, the union said. The Department for Education (DfE) has offered a 5% pay rise to most teachers for the current school year, but the NEU is demanding a fully-funded above-inflation pay rise for teachers.
