UK and Ireland  Euro 2028 bid has announced 14 candidate venues

A list of 14 candidate locations for the 2028 European Championship was released on Wednesday as part of a joint proposal by the five national organizations of the United Kingdom and Ireland.

After giving up its candidacy for the 2030 World Cup, the British and Irish bid is the favorite to secure the hosting rights for September 2023. The two competing bids for Euro 2028 are Turkey and Russia, whose national teams and clubs are now barred from UEFA participation because of the conflict in Ukraine.

There are three stadiums in London: Wembley, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and West Ham’s London Stadium. Wembley hosted the Euro 2020 final. Other potential English locations include Manchester United’s Old Trafford, Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium, Birmingham’s Villa Park, Newcastle’s St. James’ Park, Sunderland’s Stadium of Light, and Everton’s new stadium, which is still under construction.

The other four national associations are represented by the following stadiums: Lansdowne Road and Croke Park in Dublin, Hampden Park in Glasgow, Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Casement Park in Belfast, and Casement Park in Glasgow. For the submission of the final offer in April 2023, the selection will be limited to ten locations.
